Sepia Ferns

I played around with this all day (football wasn't very good today) and have mixed emotions about it. I started out with Nik B&W converstion tonal enhancer, usm, Poster Edge, 2 wave filters - one triangle and one sine, then Nik Darken center, canvas texture, Nik Silver Efex Antique Plate II, a slight sepia filter and finally to put myself out of my misery I ended with Nik
Solarization. I'm not sure it was worth spending so much time on. I kept searching for an intangible that I don't think I found.:)

Cheryl, I think this is rather nice. It has a nice graphic look, like an illustration.

Sometimes I end up going all the way back to the original image and starting over if I don't feel that I've achieved what I set out to. :cool:

Cheryl. I just had a similar problem with my post.........I think I was overachieving in the name creating some impact that just wasn't there to begin with. I think this image is definitely worth a do-over,even just to compare the results...........I do like the patterns of the image. I might evict that lone black spot LRC.

Agree with others. I had a problem with my post--kept re-doing it. Guess that's normal for a newer technique. We are in a learning curve. I like yours, but of course, you are the one who has to be comfortable. I would evict that black spot, too. It is one of the first things I noted. A good pattern to work with, though.

Cheryl, I love the pattern - just think you got a bit muddy on the processing. It could just be that you need a different tone to start with or more contrast - not sure - but this is definitely worth reworking.

As a suggestion...I used only about 1/3 of the original as that is where my eye saw the pattern as the most pleasing. I simply did an exposure adjustment to pop it a bit more. If you were going for something softer than ignore this - just thought if you saw another version it might get those wheels clicking again and I'd love to see what else you could do with this.

Hi Cheryl, this is very artistic. I like the shapes a lot. I like Julie's version too.

I think this is very nice. The patterns and curves are lovely. I think Jules' version eliminates some of the problems created by the very dark spots. I also think it needs more contrast and crisper look. Worth more work, if you are so inclined, as it is a lovely capture of ferns.

Cheryl, This is a very creative look at ferns. I agree w/ most of the comments and I do like Jules' repost. I think it is worth another look for sure. Nice way to think OOTB and use some filters that aren't often used.
