Having been sick for the last 6 weeks i havn't been out to shoot. Starting to feel better so went out for a short while today. Found a few species of duck which signal the coming of winter , the Shoveler being one of them. Felt good to get out and get the "trigger finger" into shape.:)

Sorry to hear you have been feeling poorly, but glad you got out for some 'photo' therapy today. This form of therapy is under appreciated in the general medical community I think!
Nice to see your shoveler, esp. with the bill up out of the water. I swear they spend at least 75% of their waking hours with the bill down, feeding.
Good eye contact, nice profile of that famous bill. Perhaps a tiny bit of CCW rotation, but very close.
Hope you continue to feel better.

Colors look good on this duck -- if it were mine -- I would clean up the three bits of debris in the water -- one under the bill, in front and down from the bill and the rear of the duck. I like that yellow eye popping from the dark head

Glad to hear that you were able to get out and shoot after so long! Nice low angle and composition here. I might boost the saturation a little.
Hope you feel better soon!!

A beautiful image. They certainly have a honking big bill. I like that I can see the leg.
Bummer about being sick & glad you are feeling better.
