Cold Morning on the Mississippi

This image was taken last winter from our deck which overlooks the Mississippi valley.

The river is behind the trees, and, is the source of the morning mist, as the cool air sweeps over the warmer waters. The foreground shimmering trees are covered in ice from the previous nights freezing rain.

From my monitor it appears the blacks are bit stronger and more muddy (LRC) in the post than in the original.
Might be do to compression.....not sure.

Jay, Jay, Jay...that is one sweet b&w conversion! My father always told me that the best b&w images had every single shade of gray with some pure black and some pure white mixed in. I'll bet you darn near nailed it here. The deep black and whites of the FG really cuts through the sweeping grays in the BG and that moon gives your eye the perfect place to rest. Very nice...very well done.

What a gorgeous view you have! Wonderful image. Love the combination of frosted foreground trees, smooth field, rising mist, moon. Layers and layers on interest. In my opinion, it could use even more contrast to increase that range of tones described by Jules. Lovely.

Good name for the shot....the white tones in the foreground trees give an icey cold look to the whole thing. Beautiful shot.

Anita, I have tried more contrast in the midtones, just couldn't make up my mind on it. Good feedback.
