Jan,
There is someting not quite right here, is it noise from the high ISO or a large crop?
Probably the best looking Raptor in Africa, we used to have one visit our telephone pole regularly, but we have not seen him in a while.
no it was not a large crop:(.I did some NR on BG
Nice pose. :) Did you increase exposure during conversion? My best guess that the noise in the dark areas is a result of just that. The pose is fab, but I already said that. :) TFS....
Maybe my NR setting on my camera was too high?I did not increase exp on processing
Jan,
According to Arties guide to the MKIV, you should disable the NR function, I do.
I only just noticed your high ISO so this may go someway to explain it, I am alsoreliably informed by Sabyaschi that you should never use intermediate ISO as these are a lot noisier. Stick to 200, 400, 800, 1600 I have not yet tried 3200 but I have seen images at this level with reasonable noise.
Thks for valuable info will use it in future
Terrific pose and BG, looks like too much sharpening has brought out noise, the head is still soft after sharpening I am not sure if you can save it.
Jan: A beautiful background, but as has been observed, the noise does you no favor.
Pose of the bird looks great, nice colours and patterns seen in the bird. I like the lines of the clouds in the bg.
