Great Egret at Osprey Wetlands in Ontario. This photo is best described as a screw-up on my part, but I kinda like how it turned out. I was shooting this Egret as it stood on a log in the wetland when it took flight and i fired away without adjusting any of my camera settings. OOPS!
I cloned out a distracting lily pad leaf that had turned yellow.

A happy screw-up! Beautiful water, colors and light. The reflection is especially interesting and a bonus.

Beautiful Andrew! A nice surprise. I'm sure the whites are in check but I might tone them down just a hair if it were mine. Sometimes the best things in life aren't planned!!:)

I think it's much more interesting than if it had been in focus! Love the reflection, lily pads and the amount of blur.

Andrew, it feels like an impressionist painting. It's very pleasing to look at:)

I like it too, esp. the pan-blurred upper BKGR. Bad luck losing so much of the reflection of the near wing. And yes to a Linear Burn on the upper surface of the far wing.

Thanks to all for the comments. Very much appreciated. I'll do the linear burn as recommended. Arthur, I'll see if I can brighten up that near wing reflection too - might help a little.

Hi Andrew, I agree with comments above and the first thing that I thought of was how nice this would be if the lily pads weren't obscuring the reflection of the blurred near wing. Still a very nice capture.

Hi Andrew, Very happy accident! :) The blur gives it a beautiful soft, painterly feel. I like the vertical comp and reflection.

Nice image and application, Andrew.
I find often that mistakes help create a new vision that may, as in this case, prove more interesting than the planned image. Like the reflection and blur effect of this.
