These little guys look like oversized "Bumble Bees" buzzing about establishing their territories in the reeds. About 25% of FF blurred background.

Pieter:
How remarkable and unusual; I don't think I've seen anything quite like it before! Seeing the face in sharp relief with everything else a pleasing blur is very nice. And that is one interesting little bird!
Thanks for sharing this image.

Very cool, very different. TFS
I really like how the face is sharp while the wing totally blurred, showed a lot of motion here. I might try to desaturate the background so the the blurred wing even more stand out. TFS.
Quite striking as noted above. A bit lighter overall might be excellent. I would love to see the original full frame image.
Thanks all for the feedback and comments , much appreciated.
Arthur here is the original, raw TIFF.Will post a lighter version later.

An entirely different viewpoint for me, these are notorious for never staying still and the reds always prove difficult.
You have done very well in restoring the colours.
Image held up pretty OK for the crop. well done on catching the head sharp. A very unique image!
cheers
ok the crop is better....and the shoot is very inusual and right.
Very nice ...a little more light on the face but the color are excellent
Good!!!

Yes, the IQ held up well. Crop looks to be about 1/6 of the frame. For me the BKGR is funky-overdone.
Hey Pieter, no need to blur anything here - these guys are so quick;) Well done on getting the head sharp, and managing to focus on it too, as I know how small these characters actually are. Interesting effect from the wings.
Wow.supreme.TFS
