Old Tyme Church

There's no place like Bodie Ghost Town in the Sierras for taking instant antique photos. This church was one of the two gathering spots for the mining community, the other being the saloon. I guess they needed one after the other. :cool:

Following Christopher's excellent tutorial, I converted to B&W using Nik Silver Efex then added three textures that I had collected from various places. Various adjustments on each layer and a slight vignette to get this result. I don't do many of these so I hope it looks ok! ;)

Kerry, I hope to get there someday. I think the aging looks great. I like the way you included that last building on the right.

Looks great, Kerry! I'm sure I'd have a blast there. :) I like the perspective and very nice aging. It just looks a little tight on the bottom to me.

Thanks for comments everyone. I have tried a few of these in the past and wasn't really pleased with the results. Thanks to Christopher I now have a better idea of what is involved.

Indranil, you have a good memory in that I posted an old building from Bodie last year, but I did this one last night! My other post only used a B&W conversion and didn't have any textures. I could easily become a fan of those... :cool:

Your aging process worked well, I think you've got it! I like the composition too; could have had a bit more foreground but I like it as it is.
