First attempt at textures, but still have a lot to learn about how to download and use them. Adapted Christopher's tutorial and downloaded one texture from Shadowhouse Creations. Biggest problem is the sky. It was just blank, so I tried adding some texture from Shadowhouse and also PS. Is it too fake looking? Anyway, I'm learning. Thanks Christopher.

Hi Hazel, Glad you're finding the tutorial helpful. :) I think you did a good job with the sky. I find that applying a texture, usually with multiply blending mode, and sometimes "render clouds" is very helpful for dealing with blown-out skies, so it looks like you did much what I would have done. Excellent sepia tone. I might have stepped more to the right if possible, so that the two buildings didn't merge.

Nice framing of the house and lovely tones. The sky looks excellent--not fake at all. Good for you for trying textures. It can be lots of fun!

Hazel, You did a good job with the sky and good to hear you are getting your feet wet with the textures. Another good thing to do is take some images of moody skies or clouds so that you can have a file of them and use them when needed to fill in blank looking skies. I agree w/ Christopher regarding you steeping over a bit to give you some separation between the buildings. Nicely processed.

Hazel, really like the texture of the wood and your sky is great. Subjects are close to my heart, as I have been preserving a 1928 cabin for most of my life. :)
As far as separating the two structures... I'm OK with their position, it would just be nice if there was a distinction of Tone (or contrast or focus or shading) between them. In other words the fg cabin seems to blend to well with the bg cabin. In any case they are really cool!

Steve, you gave me food for thought, so I went back, working on adjusting tones of the two houses and adding another "old" texture from Shadowhouse. I think it is more of a finished product. Thanks.

Nice job with the repost, Hazel. I might increase the contrast just a tad, but that's personal opinion. Very nicely done! :)
