D5000 70 300 VR 1/500 @ f/7.1 ISO 400, Crop, reverse S curve to reduce contrast, sharpening.
Do you think a little more sharpening is needed for this size? All comments and critiques welcome.

Hi,
Do you have any room to the left of the bird? Right now it seems like it is pretty tight in the frame.
A fill flash could have been used to help with the shadows on the breast of the bird. I find the leaves a little over powering, you could crop a little off the bottom to help with this.
The eye looks amazing, I really like it and it's a good HA IMO.

You got the eye very sharp, and the eye contact is excellent. I actually like the bird placed in the left of the frame. The whites are a little hot below the wing. And I find the foreground leaves to be somewhat distracting.

Sorry, this one doesn't do it for me. BG and FG very distracting, the bird is spot-illuminated on the shoulder, the bill is mostly OOF and the crop doesn't make any aesthetic sense.
I apologize if this critique seems harsh; it's just my opinion and I could be wrong...
