Works very well in Monotone. Have you tried using sepia tone colloration? Might also work well.
I especially like the way you've hidden what appears to be the leather strap (jess) on the bird's left wrist.

I am a sucker for Barn Owls and this is a striking photo, with a crisp clean look.
