Richard:
This was a challenge to record well, with the merge, different flight angles, contrasty light. Even without the merge, the bird flying away does distract from the nice wing display of the other bird.
Did you get any others in this series? With birds in flight, it takes endless practice and some occasional good luck.:)
Cheers
Randy

Aye Randy you are right
no more pics of them in flight, in actual fact is was pretty much my first bif.
I wish it was 5 mins before that moment again, and that I had joined BPN the year before;)
I will be in Portugal for a whole month starting next week some opportunities will come soon.

Alas, Richard, as you pointed out, the light was not your friend. Really like the shot. Open beak and dropped talons on bird a plus. Too bad contrast detracts from on otherwise excellent image.

Hi Dean
thanks
Randy
I did find another pic will p[ost it on Eager to Learn as I will breach rules if I post it here - it's a different pic.
Anyone comment on the talons being dropped like that ; part of a greeting/display perhaps.
Have seen film of birds grabbing each others talons, stalling and rolling over but that did not happen in this case.

Mucho contrasty but I took a crack at it in various ways.....

YAW. Black and white in bright sun with shadows is near-impossible at best.....
