More fun with Pixel Bender! I'd never used the Ripple Blocks on an image and I tried it on a grebe and loved the results, especially the head! I used it on the image and then I used Topaz Adjust to pump up the colors a bit, then I used a slight darkening texture and a darker edge treatment. Hope you like it!

Judy, My friend did a similar block style image and I thought it was so cool. This one looks even better. I like the color tones and the lighting. I only wish the subject wasn't so centered. Very interesting and appealing. I especially like the copper color.:)

Thanks Denise. The water's golden copper tones were from reflections off the dried reeds/weeds in the back of the inlet. I tried it with a different crop after reading your post and the blocks were nothing like this, not interesting. In fact any tiny little change in the image gives entirely different results in this filter.

Judy, Then I would leave it as is. The colors are lovely:)

Really a cool effect, Judy. Like the color tones. I think another alternative would have been to crop after the filter and then apply the edge darkening. This being a motif, works for me as it is.

I like it a ton. It looks like a copper mosaic sculpture of some kind. Love the bill, the eye, and the butt.

Judy, I think this is my favorite PB that you've done. I love the copper esp in the wing and head. It reminds me of an abstract metal mosaic.

Thanks Indranil. I did crop it after the filter and before I did anything else. It was more centered  (I don't always crop according to rules but what I like or according to what's in the photo like patterns in the water.) I used a small web image that I found in a folder of bird web images. But I feel certain that using the original at high res cropped differently would result in an entirely different result with this filter. I tried adding canvas and using CA Fill which worked great to add room in front but the resulting ripple block filter was awful, not even close to the original. Not the same great colors. I guess it's very picky!

Thanks Cheryl. I had an image already done but it was more of the same PB filter I'd already done, so I looked for another image. I found the grebe with the great colors in the water and did it as my last image for the theme and I'm happy that it's been so well received, wow!

Nice image and application, Judy.
Agree with the others, but I also see the possibility of this being a decorative tile over the kitchen sink! ;) :D
No need to add the sink to the bottom, it was just the first thing I thought of when I saw it! :D
