A common subject uncommonly well photographed. The light is lovely, but the water splash steals the show.

Soft light, nice shooting angle, action, splash, exposure, all good. Nice to be able to see both the big splash and eye so well. Head is a bit away, but works well here.

Sweet light and killer splash. I too would have liked to have seen the bird's head on straight. The fish simply needed to be swimming a bit closer to you! But the image is effective as posted.
I agree, the splash really makes this stand out.

Awesome splash, and a surprisingly big water bulge at the surface! I love the water reflections on the plumage. For some reason I keep getting the impression the image may need 1/2 degree or so CW rotation - it may be an illusion played on me by the angle of that water bulge and ripple beyond it at right?
