Australasian Grebe

All the ducks on my great duck pond are gone. Hopefully some will return. In the mean time I think I have to call it Grebe Pond ;)

This style of duck/grebe image has three main factors. I always look for when shooting them. First of all, you need the sun in your back, secondly you need to find a spot with very calm and colorful water and thirdly, you need to get down as low as possible.

Beautiful bird. We have in Israel something very similar with a bit of a change in color. The water texture and color are just great.
