I did this one using only "reduce noise" in PS CS4, which I ran three times with the same settings . I then made a layer mask and painted in some detail very sparingly, using my new digitizing tablet (more about that later...). :D

It's funny how we forget that reducing noise gives us this beautiful blurred look...great reminder! I love that the eye is so bright and tack sharp...it draws me right into the image.
You have discovered a nice technique Kerry. I will have to try it. It works well on this image. I like the sharp eye too.
