Another Photomatix single image process.
Bill, I really like this! I've been meaning to play around with Photomatix but just haven't had the time. You've inspired me to take another look!
Here's what I noticed right off the bat: that everything takes up about 1/3 of the image. If this were mine, I'd decide to either leave all the foreground or all the sky and then cut the other part down by half. This way the part you leave will take on even more importance and really stand out against that beautiful red brick tower. If it were my image, I'd cut the sky down and maybe increase the contrast of the FG objects so they pop as much as that tower does.
Just playing around with the image as it stands, I think the sky is what is best to reduce. Reducing the fg above the green plant gives the rock formation and the tower a squat look. Cropping the sky by about half is the way to go I think.
Bill, I like the way you processed this. I am loving the effect on the sky. I think Jules makes some good suggestions. I'm on the fence about the crop as I love the sky but do feel that cropping the bottom would give it a squat look as you mention.
Hi Bill, very nice work and I really like this one. I agree with the thoughts about a crop, but I would not take much from the top. The sky really adds to the dramatic feel IMO. Well done!
Bill, Beautiful HDR! Thanks for sharing.
