I often have trouble defining habitat or distraction. This shorebird is found running along the beach amongst stones and seaweed. So, in this case, are the stones habitat or distraction?
I like the colours and textures of the plumage and gravel, Scott. Not sure what the bright green strand is but I would eliminate its it is very eye-catching. Great allow angle and BG. A little more space all round may be an option if available.

The stones that are in focus do not bother me although I would prefer they didn't obscure the birds feet. If you have it, I would also try a crop that had a little more room at the bottom as the virtual feet are a bit to close to the edge of the frame for my taste.
The out of focus stones behind the birds tail are a little distracting to me. A lower angle if possible might have provided enough separation from the rocks and help make the tail standout against the blue/white background. If your intent was to show how the bird blends into it's environment then perhaps a higher angle of capture would have provide a background of the stone/gravel beach.
I usually like when green is included in an image but, in this case the single thin bit of green in front of the bird is more of a distraction for me than an enhancement. If this were mine I would remove it.
The bird it's self is nicely exposed and has good detail. I also like the look back pose with the head being parallel to the camera's senor.
