I own the 5D MkII and the 7D. I tried to look at your website to see what types of images you're typcially after, but I couldn't get anything at the link. Still, I see that big piece of glass in your icon and see "Bird Photography" in you signature, so I'll assume that your main aim is bird photography.
We've got some noteable exceptions around here that use the 5D2 very successfully for bird photography, but I prefer the crop-sensor and faster AF and fps handling of the 7D. When I'm in the field I almost always have both bodies with me, but the 7D is the one I grab for birds.
I think that the advantage of the 1D4 over the 7D is the AF performance at f/8, so you could use the 2x TC. With my 500mm f/4L IS on my 7D, the 1.4x TC works great. There'll be the same advantage over the 5D2. On the other hand, the 5D2 is really hard to beat for scenics and short telephoto stuff. When no cropping is required, the IQ is stunning. The 5D2 is at least a stop better at high-ISOs than the 7D, but I don't know how it compares to the 1D4 in that regard.
Let us know what you decide. They're both great cameras. Oh, if weather sealing is critical for you, then the 1D4 is tops.

Some stunning images there...
Manos,
I have both the 5D2 and 1D4. Which produces a better image at any ISO depends on the situation and on how full the frame is. So both cameras have advantages. But for bird photography with the bird small in the frame, the smaller pixel pitch of the 1D4 provides for more pixels on the subject. Plus with and f/4 lens you can use a 2x TC and still have AF, and even stack 1,4+2x TC and have AF. The 1D series has a tighter spec on focus, so you will tend to get sharper images, and the 45 point AF is much better in my opinion. The 5D2 can produce an image with more pixels on subject if you can fill the frame. The high ISO performance is superb.

Thanks a lot for your time!
Manos, I too own both of these fine camera bodies. I use both bodies for bird photography as well depending on where I am at in terms of how close I can get to the subject. If money is not an issue I say buy the 1D Mk4 without selling the 5D Mk2. You will continue to enjoy both.
thanks all for your informations...now my website link is ok:)
Manos your images are simply stunning, something about them that is different to many images here, not better but different and I am absorbed by them as they have something missing in many great images I see here LIFE!
BTW, I carry and use the 5DMKII, the 7D and 1DMKIII orIV these Cameras travel everywhere with me and on some days when the mood takes me I will shoot all day with the 5DMKII as it forces me to go back to the discipline of my film days which is good for the soul.
PS at high ISOs nothing beats the 5DMKII IMHO.
I use the 1D Mark IV but don't use the 5DII. So I should not give my comments. However, I have heard Vincent Laforet claiming that for low light, 1D Mark IV is the best bet (better than 5DII and 7D).

thanks a lot!
