Hey Maurice, bummer that your 40D is acting up. Short of suggesting a visit to the repair shop, I'm not sure what this could be. I would, however, eliminate all other possible causes such as trying another battery, trying on different lenses, etc...
Is this a reccuring problem, or just a one-time thing?
I just stopped working. Been on the phone with Canon tech and they say send it off to VA for repairs. Doesn't sound good, was hoping to hear some other reports of people with the same issue to get an
idea of whats up.
Thanks,
Maurice
Hoping for the best! Let us know what it was...this way we'll know if/when it happens to us too;)
Just got the repair estimate from Canon, looks as if the shutter needs to be replaced. Cost is going to be $212 including shipping. I purchased my camera new a few years ago so I know how it's been treated and the actuation should be in the 20K range. Is this common for a shutter to fail this early?
The XXD line-up is rated at 100,000 actuations. This is just an average rating, and of course you'll get some with more and some with less. 20K is a low total though....hope it comes back to you good as new!
Just got my little box from the Fedex guy, camera looks good.
