A busy Great Egret that I was watching feed one morning and I was actually trying to make a few motion abstract photos because I'm not skilled at bird photography and this kind of work is much more entertaining to me. I used my 75-300 zoom lens on a tripod ISO 200 f8 @1/125. Not much PP in NX 2 except for cropping.
Like the blur Jim. Might have been more effective if you had the head/eye sharp, but know it is hard to do. Like the sense of motion.

Hey Jim, Welcome to OOTB. I love the soft colors and the blur amount looks good. I think that you captured the movement well. It's a tiny bit tight in the frame for me. Nicely done.

Nice image and application, Jim.
It's not that easy, as you found out! But one thing, that I learned from personal failure, is to try to keep the focus on the head, even if the HA isn't there. It appears you have focus on the leg here.
But, I give you credit for trying and getting the motion nicely in the image. I like the flow of the movement, well done.

Hi Jim, big welcome to OOTB! I like what you are doing here and look forward to seeing more. Mark has a good point about the area of focus. I think you may find that this kind of photography is actually pretty challenging and as you get better at "out of the box" work your "in the box" shots will be better too!
