I have been trying out zoom blur on BIF without much success :( So I tried a few with sitting birds and here is one taken earlier today in the evening. Settings were -
7D, Sigma 50-500mm @ 363mm on Mongoose
1/6 sec, f/16 Mode: Tv Metering: Evaluative Exp comp: -1 ISO: 100 (auto)
Rotated and cropped, sharpened the middle pelican, adjustment layers for levels, saturation and selective colors. Applied usm on the final web version. Your C&C will be appreciated.

Indranil, I love the fact the you don't give up. You have the right amount of blur and the focus point is placed well. I like the colors and the inclusion of the BG strip. I do wish the main Pelican were more pronounced. But this is a pleasing blur and not easy to get in camera-so Congrats!

Nice image and application, Indranil.
Agree with Denise ... did I really just say that??? ...
But nice and appreciate the degree of difficulty of in-camera zooms. Been there and done that! :o ;) :D

Think you did well Indranil. Like the center bird pretty much in focus and the strip at the top..

Hey Indranil,
Very good advice given above and I have to agree......I too struggle with these so experimenting will only make the learning curve less steep! I am starting to believe that less is more when it comes to these!

Indranil, this is very pleasing to look at with the repeating blues and brown strips. And I like the center pelican as the focal point.:)

Indranil, I think this is a very good try, though I'm no expert on zoom blurs since I've never done one in-camera myself. I like the evening light and the focal point and blurring look good. Personally I think a closer view might be nice and would help the main pelican be more prominent.
