This Marine Iguana zoom blur was created at Peurto Villamil, Isabella with the handheld 70-200mm f/4L IS lens, the 1.4X II TC, and the EOS-1D MIV. ISO 50. Evaluative metering +2/3 stop: 1/4 sec. at f/45.
Working at f/45 it took me 20 minutes to remove about 200 dust spots :) One of those variable 10(?) stop ND filters would have allowed me to use a much wider aperture.
Good luck with this week's contest. I look forward to seeing some great stuff and to judging it next week.

Wow, I love the amount of blur and the colors. The top part is fantastic. Great job w/ the clean up, can't even tell.

Fantastic zoom-blur, Artie. I love those radiating lines with the iguana in the center. Great color and excellent pp with the dust spots...

Thank you both. That was a morning when I had to make lots or soup from not too many stones :)

Hi Artie, I love the energy in this one and the colors of the bg are nice and "earthy". What would you think of cropping a bit from the right side? I'm thinking it would move the center of the blur a little off-center in frame, and since the tail is already clipped it wouldn't hurt to lose a little more. What do you think?

I think that it is a good idea and allowed me to lose some of the light sand at the bottom. Thanks.

I think the 20 minutes de-dust spotting was well worth it. Really like the tonal feel and action of this image. Think the extra cropping adds to the drama.

Thanks all. I have a Niagara Falls blur made at a very slow shutter speed with the old 1Ds II that required more than an hour of dust-spotting :) I will try to remember to post it here soon. As one of my all time favorite images it was in my recent gallery show at Bok Tower near my home. Denise loves it too.

Nice blur Artie. Like the repost. Sensor dust.... hate it too.
