I was practicing getting the effect in camera and shot this at the St. Augustine Alligator Farm a couple of weeks ago. There was one lighter spot on the right side of the macaw that I darkened using a levels adjustment and adjusted shadows and highlights. Shot at f/7.1, ISO 200, EV -1.3., 1/320sec.
Thanks for looking. Comments and suggestions appreciated.:)

Nice sharp details and you did well w/ the mixed light. There seems to be a lot of negative space up top. Do you have any more room below? I think this works well for the theme and good for you trying to do it mostly in-camera.:)

Beautiful work, Cheryl. Perfect for this week's theme. Great colors and details on the feathers.

Beautiful bird, would agree with Denise re the cropping. I think the lighter top of the macaw detracts a little but well done for doing so much in camera.

Hi Cheryl, I really like the bird and your work with the camera. It does feel a bit roomy at the top and a little tight with the palm frond on the right. Great that you are getting out and trying it!

Nice try for in camera Cheryl, agree that maybe a bit off the top would improve it.
