I often urge folks to look at as much good photography as possible. I have been inspired by many Andy Rouse images. A Sally Lightfoot Crab image on page 74 of his Concepts of Nature book inspired me to try a bunch of these on the recently concluded 2-week Galapagos Photo-Cruise. I used the tripod-mounted Canon 800mm f/5.6L IS lens with the EOS-1D MIV. Evaluative metering -2 stops off the crab and the black rock without a breaking wave: 1/30 sec. at f/9. Semi-pano crop.
Don't be shy; all comments welcome.

Hi Artie, welcome back! Looking forward to lots of great images from your trip. I really like this, with the water rushing over the crab - just enough blur to maintain some transparency for the colors and detail to show through. Cool!

Artie, Really good eye for this. It is a beautiful image with just enough blur.

This is an amazing composition, Artie. This is as inspiring as Andy's. I love the blurred water flow over the crab. Great color contrast in the natural world. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Artie,
Welcome back and I'm glad that you had a great time :)
I love this image - particularly like the juxtaposition of colour and b/w - and of course the blur!
Best,
Nicki

Very nice, Artie! I really like the water rushing over the crab, and it has just the right combination of detail and blur.

Love the eyes breaking through the water. Saw some of his work in the National Geographic Store in the UK where the photos were truly inspiring.
