One from yesterday's workshop in Westfield NJ. Roman Kurywczak, Susan Candelario and I had a fantastic day filled with beautiful flowers and fun. This is a new variety of Hydrangea and I can't remember the name. I thought it would make a nice blur.

Very pretty D, I might lighten it a bit. The brown area near the bottom looks like a fox face to me.

Nice blur, Denise. I like the colors. Another vote for lighten it a bit.

Thanks guys. I actually darkened the edges just a bit.

Nice image and application, Denise.
Agree with the lightening comments. I also find the brown areas distracting, but ...
While it is a blur, it could use a little sharpenng to define some of the elements.

Sounds like a wonderful day!
As mentioned, I also like the color. I think the arrangement of the florets really works well too. My eye wants to rest on the fox face (or I thought owl face) toward the bottom. :)

It sure was a blast Denise! I was wondering which blurs you were doing.....very effective as the flowers still show through. It would be interesting to see the lightened version for comparison.....but I find the contrast of the darker areas adds some depth!

Thanks everyone I appreciate the comments very much. My histogram is pushed pretty far to the right. I do like the darker areas too. Those darker areas add much needed depth in an image like this. The original Hydrangea variety was very special.
Roman, I can't wait to see some of your shots.:) I posted that image of you holding the beer after the workshop on my blog. I of course did an OOTB version of it.

I actually see a fox's face in the brown area to the lower left of center, squint your eyes a bit..you'll see 2 eyes, 2 ears, and a nose...nice blur

Denise, sounds like a great day! Seems funny trying to get a macro lens to be blurry... :) I like the soft, ethereal look and the lovely colors.
Paul, get a grip man! The fox clearly has a goatee! :D
