The image of Heron was taken at Merritt Island NWR a few years ago. It was previously shown here in another form. I used it for the placement of the subject in the frame, which proved to work in this case.
Modifications in CS4 included; Multiple Extrude Filters, both blocks and pyramids, Highlight & Shadow, Brightness & Contrast and Hue & Saturation adjustment. Filling of the frame layers created the patterns in the BG, which were further added to, for effect.
Enjoy!

Very unusual color palette. I find the graphic lines interesting. I do wish there was some more definition in the head and bill.

Nice OOTB composition, Mark. I like the graphic quality of this composition. The colored heron with b/w bg is an interesting choice. Good use of filters.

This is a very interesting composition, Mark. Nice job with the various combinations of filters, and I like the colors. I do think I would also like a bit more definition in the beak.

Mark, I really like the graphic look but also wish there was a little more definition in the beak area.

Mark, I really like the bg effect and wish for more definition overall on the bird. It seems to get lost in the processing.

Mark, I love all the patterns and lines with the motion seeming to go with the bird's motion. Very intricate graphic design here!
