The Leaf

I've been playing around with this image and wanted to get some thoughts from others. The shot started out as in infrared shot taken on a riverwalk in my hometown. I processed the IR in PS and then went to LR where I applied the split tone function. It was then back to PS for just a tiny touch of Topaz adjust to tweak the details, and then Topaz denoise. Thoughts, suggestions anyone? It was a fun excersize to see the variations on the road to this file.

Dave, I really like this composition. I am wondering if you could sharpen the one petal that is in the front lower center. Maybe tone down a couple of the bright spots? Neat use of the filters and I would love to see the original.:)

Denise, This is the original, after IR processing, which has had a small crop top and bottom.

Thank you Kerry, I'm torn between the straight IR and the split tone. With some boost in contrast and detail the straight IR is more impressive, but the gold tone is cool too. Thanks for your thoughts.

They are both neat Dave. Might tone down some of the brighter areas too. Got my old 20D converted to Super IR but no time to do much shooting yet. Have fun!

Really liking the IR version.....just some more of the suggested tonal tweaks and that will really shine!

Thanks Jackie and Roman, I seem to be leaning more towards the straight IR with some tweaks. This was done with a 20D converted with the standard color filter, but I did not do the channel swap on conversion. I almost wish I had gotten the straight IR B&W conversion on the camera. That seems to give a stronger black. Thanks for the thoughts.

Dave, I like the straight IR version better. I'm getting ready to convert my 30D to an IR B&W (I can hardly wait). Hopefully, I'll be able to get something as nice as this:)
