This image was created at Nickerson Beach. Denise and I had hoped for a repeat of the spectacular golden orange yellow sunset of the previous night but it was not to be as the clouds rolled in. So we opted to make soup from a stone and create some blurs and flash blurs. (The flash blurs became blurs when the flash did not fire because it did not have enough time to re-charge :))
Canon 100-400mm IS L lens handheld at 400mm with the EOS-1D MIV. ISO 200. Evaluative metering +1 2/3 stops: 1/30 sec. at f/6.3 in Tv Mode. Flash mounted on camera with Better Beamer; ETTL at zero with rear curtain synch.
Don't be shy; all comments welcome.
ps: We have been working on the Guide to Pleasing Blurs :)

Artie, This one came out beautiful. I like the amount of blur and the layered BG adds a lot to the image.:) I also love the pose.

Artie, Wonderful sense of motion... the sharper beak and the head angle are engaging.

Really like the rear curtain flash giving the blur behind and the head pretty sharp. At first I thought the crop was tight on the bottom, but I think it adds some great tension and dynamic feel.
