This image was taken years ago at Horicon NWR, in Wisconsin. It is one of my best images of the Night Heron, taken with a 300mm f/2.8L and 1.4x/2x combo. Presume you don't recognize it as such, as it has gone through some minor morphs for this week's theme.
Modification in CS4 included; Polar Coordinate (P/R & R/P), Shear, Twirl and 3D Cylinder.

Very cool abstract Mark. Not sure how I missed it. The blue BG really makes this stand out.
OK Mark.....since no comments I'll bite......this one reminds me of the years I spent in art school going to museums and seeing work I just didn't get.....needless to say I am not the biggest fan of this one. To me it is overall dark and uninteresting....I know you like frames and while I am not a big fan of them either.....in this case I like the frame best. Sorry......let's see what others chime in.
Reminds me of dissecting the brain during neuro-anatomy class...agree with Roman about the frame.
Mark, Coming back to this I'm wondering if you lightened the subject if it would make a difference.

I was actually working on another rendering of the original image, when I figured maybe something would happen that might just be interesting for this week's theme. I hit the "3D" button once and this is what I got. Personally, I am not that thrilled with it, but as other examples weren't posted, I figured we might as well have some fun this week.
As Denise knows, I often go by the beat of a different drummer ... or is it others that go by the beat of a different drummer. Guess it depends on which band you are following! ;) :D
As for the frame, yes, I personally feel that a simple frame adds to the picture. But also agree to disagree without malice with those who feel otherwise. I feel as a minimum a border line should be put on images, so the limits are evident, but choose to add frames.
I will see if I have time to try a more rewarding image this week, as I am in the middle of some projects right now and haven't had time to spend here.

Hi Mark. I have to admit that I wasn't sure what to say about this one. ;) By the title, I was expecting to see some remnants of a heron in there and I guess I could if I try really hard. As an abstract, I think it is too dark overall and could use some sort of detail to add interest.

As noted, it was what it was at the time. Seemed interesting, but didn't expect everyone to see the image of the BCNH. Guess I was right! ;)
Here's from whence it came, for those interested in it. I did not remove the branch and other elements, just present it as shot. Would need some clean up of the yellow cast on the white and toning down of the white area a bit, amoung other issues. It was also a bad scan that I had done years ago. Adequate but not acceptable for the intended use.
I like it, it's just so off the wall. I think it would be interesting to see it lightened (the heron).

I've tired lightening the subject, but as is, the application is not allowed once it is put into 3D mode! ??? :confused: :( But appreciate all concerns on that point. :)
