Multiple detail passes (curves, sharpening, topaz detail 2) and posterized, selective masks & blend modes. (maybe 20 layers total)... loses a little to small jpeg.
Thanks for looking, commenting.

Michael, Very interesting piece. I like the walking pose and sharp details. I do wish for a slight head turn. The raised foot out of the water is killer. It looks like a slight green cast on the bird? I also might evict OOF fish/water drop in front of the beak. Nicely done.:)

I agree about the oof light spot under the beak but I find the yellow foot a bit distracting in this image. The work on the feathers is so delicate and interesting but I find my eye constantly drawn to the foot so for me I would rather not have it raised in an image like this. If the photo wasn't made to appear so moody and atmospheric, the foot would have been a winner (IMHO). Love the look of the water and the rest of the bird, beautifully presented.

Nice image and application, Michael.
Removal of the color cast would make this work. I personally agree with Denise  ... sometimes :D ... on the foot. I like it as the lower leg is visible with the dark BG. If it weren't, the leg would not work, IMO.

Denise, Hillary, Mark,
Thanks much for the comments... removed spot, removed yellow cast & took the specular highlights off the foot (there were many) to maybe bring it closer to balance rather than the focal point.
