The original is the Cape Buffalo in the pouring rain. The bit of color in the original seemed washed out :) and I really wanted to focus on the buffalo enduring the downpour. I worked all afternoon and could not seem to come up with my intentions. In PS I used exclusion and reduced the opacity. I then darkened the blacks.
Comments and instruction very welcome.

Hi Nancy, I like the low-contrast and muted colors in this. It gives the image a rather gloomy rainy-day feel, and focuses the attention on the buffalo. I would try to move the buffalo out of the center, probably by taking a bit off the right side and adding more room on the left.

Nancy, Really nice image of a Cape Buffalo. I think it looks like it's enduring the pouring rain. Christopher's suggestion is a good one. I would love it if you could post the original for comparison in this post.

Nice image and application, Nancy.
I like the original post. But might suggest a little additional contrast in that image, to darken the buffalo slightly.
But ... your image ... your vision.

Nancy, Thanks for posting the original. I think your changes are subtle yet effective for this image.:)
