I used the lighting effects in CS5 to create this then did some selective D&B. I applied a slight Orton effect first. I wish the fish was more clear in the orig.

Denise, this is gorgeous!
The soft colors on the bird are especially effective against the dark BG. A beautiful "glow".
Isn't there a way to brighten the fish ? - almost missed it!

Thanks Sandy, The fish is barely visible in the original. I could probably dodge it a bit. Good idea!!:)
I like this a lot better than I thought that I would from the thumbnail. I would like the white a bit brighter and just like the gator image, I am wishing for some light water over the head to better define it. I do love the soft focus (???) effect on the bird.
Thanks Artie, The soft focus look is the Orton effect-it adds a soft glow and some softness to the image.
Very nice Denise. The Orton effect really makes this one different. I agree about the water around the head - would either go higher or lower with the highlighting so it doesn't intersect with the head.
Hi Denise,
Love the Orton effect but do agree on the water above the head. Might go lighter?? :)
Best,
Nicki
Kerry and Nicki, Thank you for your suggestions. Much appreciated.:)
Very nice image and treatment. I really like what the Orton has done and I love the dark blue background.
Not much to be said that hasn't already. Love the soft feel and colors. Well done. :)
Thank you both. I appreciate it.:)
