Canopy

I wanted to try something different this time. I had taken this image at the Biltmore estate, Asheville, NC. The setting sun allowed for the contrast... the tree top with the fractalius and the lower portion under the canopy more subdued for which I used multiple Topaz simplify filters and then used layer masks painting over with different blacks to create the effect. Hope you like it...

Indranil, Very creative and I really like the concept a lot. I think maybe if the frac. line and the topaz line were joining in an area that was more defined. Like at the ground behind the walkway/road instead of the middle of the trees it might be better-maybe not. You could mask out the trees that were closer to the FG if you wanted. I do love the colors and the topaz work on the pink bush is fantastic! BTW Congratulations on your IOTW win!

I love the colours and agree with Denise about the fract line and the topaz line - it looks just a tad disjointed as it is IMHO. That pink bush is fantastic :)

Denise, Nicki, thanks a lot. My original intent was to show the perspective from above and below the canopy. I do like the idea of a more defined line for the fract/topaz and here is a new version... does this work?

Yes! I love this - it seems to make much more sense visually - amazing what a difference a small adjustment can make :)
