This is a composite, once said a bit obvious but fun.

I really like the colours in this image and the bird has a great expression. Even the eye and beak colours tone well with the background.
Tim, I like the fun colors and the composite work. I love the downstroke and the head angle-the open beak is fantastic. It looks a bit tight in the frame and I would run some NR on the BG. Big welcome to BPN and OOTB. I just went on your web-site and your preening Avocet is lovely.:)
Welcome to BPN & OOTB, Tim.
Nice image and application.
You will see that most of what you see here is not what you really see! ;) Composite or otherwise. That is the fun of OOTB.
As for your image ... nice colors and detail.
The colors do work really well in this composite, Tim, and great pose of the oystercatcher.
Welcome to OOTB!
Tim, welcome to OOTB with a beautiful image. :)
Hey Tim, Big time welcome and thanks a ton for your membership support. The bird is cracking sharp. Did you use flash for the original capture? I would be interested in the lens and camera that you used and to learn the location.
I agree that the bird is too tight but I have another idea. Since our eyes are drawn to the lighter areas in an image I would love to see the BKGR flopped, with the yellow on the top and the bird smaller.
BTW, how did you extract the bird?; you did a superb job of that.
Welcome, Tim! Excellent work on the composite. I love the pose and colors.
Hi Arthur,
No flash just a second sun you get in composites :D.
Bird extraction by the new wonders of CS5.
Lens = 300mm F/2.8 nikkor with 1.7TC on a D300s
Will try your suggestions.
Thanks all for comments
Tim
Nice illustration look to this. With bright vebrant colours. Very nice end result. Good suggestion by Artie.
Thanks for the info Tim. Please explain what you did to extract the bird in CS-5.
Hi Arthur,
Use quick selection to select unwanted area, select inverse, then click refine edge and tinker, plenty
of utube shows on how to.
Tim
Thanks. Sounds like the same old but better....
Tim, welcome to OOTB :)
Great colours in this - love the vibrant look.
Best,
Nicki
I think this is fantastic as is but I would like to see the version that Artie suggested.
Here's a re edit following the suggestions:-

Sweet and loverly. I would go even a bit smaller in the frame. Much better without the dark at the top!
Like the repost. PS 5 looks interesting
