The bird stands out nicely against the lovely textures stones. I like what you did around the edge of the image.
Patti, I can't help w/ the ID. But I do like the edge of the image as Anita pointed out. I think you did a good job separating the bird from the BG and giving it a painterly look.

Lovely effect and texture, Patti. The colors of the frame go very well with the image, and nice edge treatment as the others pointed out. :)
Thanks to all. :o Guess I'll have to 'fess up. I wish I could claim some magical hand painting technique, but the DAP 2 program in Realism (in DAP 2.0.4) did those edges. However, Christopher, I'll take credit for those frame colors :).

Patti, this looks to me like a Brewer's Blackbird, but what it would be doing in Ireland is beyond me. Definitely does not look like a jackdaw. I have Brewer's Blackbirds in my back yard every day and this is exactly what they look like. If that's what it is, he's a long way from home...
At any rate, this is a very nice image and treatment. I love the pose and what DAP did with the bricks of the building. The frame is interesting, as it looks like a matte on the outside. Good show!

It does look like a Brewer's. It doesn't look much like the drawings of a jackdaw in my UK bird book. I think I probably got the photo a little too dark which hides the lighter feathers that the jackdaw has. The photo lead on the trip was Kathy Adams Clark and she really knows her birds, so I'm sure she was right.

Patti, I'm sure you are right about that! Upon closer inspection, I can see the lighter plumage and also it seems that the angle of the shot hides the thickness of the bill that the jackdaw has. Would have been one lost Brewer's! :)
