This image of Akaka Falls, on the Big Island, was previously shown in another theme week. I like the subject and have modified it, with CS4 adjustments, into a painting for this week’s theme.
Modifications in CS4 included; Accent Edges, Paint Daubs, Palette Knife, Cooling (80) and Yellow Film Filters, Dry Brush, Hue & Saturation, Highlight & Shadow and Brightness and Contrast adjustments.
Enjoy!

Very nice painterly feel to this Mark. I kinda wish there was a bit more room up top to include more of what looks to be a second falls in the BG. I love the perspective and the slight off-center comp.

Thanks for viewing and comments, Denise.
There is only one falls. What you see is haze and the mist from the falls in the background. I cropped the top based on prior comments on this image to minimize, but not elimate the grey sky area on top. I feel it gives a little interest to that area, without distracting from the focal point of the image.

Nice rendering of the falls, Mark. Very nicely processed. TFS.

Mark, I really like the way you captured the falls and the placement in the frame. I also like how the bright green and bright white set each other off. I'd love to see this in person - one of these days.

Thanks Indranil & Patti for viewing and comments. Appreciate it.
It is an interesting falls, as the area is very confined to get the shot. If you go there, a wide angle greater than 35mm is needed. That is what I used and I just got lucky in my set up location.

Nice capture and processing Mark. This waterfall is photographed a lot and I can't believe how many images I see with the falls smack in the middle of the picture. Good job on the comp and a nice painted feel. Love the pool of color at the bottom!
