Probably one of my favorite images from Florida this year. It is also my first photographed blast off like this. Thanks to Artie for his help and for a day I won't ever forget.:)

This is beautiful, Denise. I love the low perspective with in-focus birds in the background. It amazes me to seeing so many terns blasting off! TFS.

1D3 and 800mm... you pulled out the heavy artillery, Denise!
You had a good tutor. I really like the sense of tension in this image. The motion in the birds that have already taken off contrasted to the tension in those still on the ground. Nicely captured.

Wow! That is an incredible shot. I've never seen so many terns in one place before. I really like this technique with the birds on the ground sharply in focus and the ones in flight blurred. I can't imagine ever getting the settings right - boggles my mind. Thanks for posting your EXIF. Maybe I can put a cheat sheet in my camera bag in case I ever get an opportunity to do this. :)

Denise, this is fantastic! I love the smaller band of in-focus birds contrasting with the much larger band of
blurred in-flight birds. This must have been amazing to watch.:)
