Hi Folks
This is where the Curve-billed Thrasher has been nesting for 20 years. No wonder they are such a "prickly boistrous bird"
The jumping cholla (Cylindropuntia fulgida), also known as the hanging chain cholla, is a cactus that is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico.
It is the hanging chains of fruit which give it the name "hanging chain cholla", whereas the "jumping cholla" name comes from the ease with which the stems detach when brushed, giving the impression that the stem jumped onto you. Often the merest touch will leave a person with bits of cactus hanging on their clothes to be discovered later, when either sitting or leaning on them
Painting was done using free Fotosketcher.I like it better than "Jiffy Oil"

Very neat looking image Gus. I love the colors and the softness created w/ the effect. I might lighten the one small shadow on the Cholla's lower branch left and evict the brighter blue spot in BG. If there were more brighter blue I think it would be fine but it seems to draw my eye. Nice eye for this.

The repost is lovely, Gus! And you're right...no wonder that bird is so loud! Ouch! :D

Nice repost Gus! Does have a very nice painterly look. I can attest to the fact that these cacti will chase you down and jump onto your shoes!! Been there, felt that! ;)
