It has been quite a while since I did the frame and shadows on a submission. so long, that I forgot how to do it, but finally dug the technique out from my old brain. Hope you like it. The poppies are blooming well at Antelope Valley.
I shot this with another old technique that I have not used for a while, using a 25mm extension tube in front of my 24-105 IS lens. The photo is actually a 25% crop, zeroing in on the center.

Steve, I really like the frame and shadows look. Is it hard to do? I like the curves which leads my eye in different directions.
Beautiful colors:)

It is an easy process. I could do a short article on the technique if there is an interest.

Great look - I love how the outer aspects of the image carry right over onto the other layers. Even the scattered pollen is a nice look! I would be interested in the technique as well.

I'd also love to know how you did this. Talk about ORANGE! Wow, does this have graphic impact!

I like it Steve! Perfect rendition of the color and I like the 3D effect.
I was just camping in the Mojave and there is lots of yellow carpet out there too. :)

I sent in a tutorial for the process to the editors. I do not know if it will be posted or not, but I hope so. I did it at 1:00am, so it might need a bit of editing.
There are a lot more possibilities than just frames and shadows.
