Looking for an alternative lens cap for the 800, 300 and 200 long lenses. Anyone using them?
I have a lenscoat Hoodie for my 300/2.8 - works fine but it is a two handed job to fit especially when covering with the hood in place but reversed.
Do you find it a better alternative to the leather lens cap supplied? Any inexpensive alternatives?
Got the Hoodie and never looked back
I have them on all my big glass, and now even on the huge front element of my 14-24 f/2.8!
The hoodie is a goodie ! :D
Easy on; easy off.
The hoodie stays on - you don't need to worry about it falling off.
What, me worry ? ;)
have mine on my 500 4.0L. works like a charm, and it's nice to have in your pocket especially if it starts sprinkling and you don't want drops on your glass.
I does make it more difficult to stretch over the knob, like I said earlier it is a two handed job, I find the camera/lens has to be locked down on a tripod or the lens has to be end up resting on something to be able to stretch the hoodie over the reversed hood.
Always use a hoodie, also useful when the lens hood is on (depending on the lens you might need a different size). Only use the supplied cap when the lens is being stored.
The neoprene on that the Hoodie is made of easily stretches around/over the locking knob on the lens shade. I have them on all my lenses :D
btw- for the 200 f2 you want the the 2x Hoodie
for the 300 f2.8 IS you want a 2x Hoodie
for the 800 f5.6 you want a 4x Hoodie
