Hi Everyone,
Here is my first offering for the weekly theme. It is part of a panel that I have been working on and is a representation of the Rio Carnival. Taken at Butterfly World in South Florida, all in-camera - the BG is white sheeting that sits behind some of the macaw area, hence the studio look. Was experimenting with hand-holding the 500 lens and seeing how close I could get to achieve something effective :D
1D Mk3 500 f/4
ISO 200
F32 1/3 sec
Exp comp @ +2/3
Minimal PP - just curves and saturation I think...
Look forward to your comments and critiques :)
Best regards to all,
Nicki
PS I should point out that at this point in the story, our hero is getting dressed to go out dancing...

Really love the blur you achieved on the blur, Nicki. And the colors are beautiful. I would possibly have preferred the blur taken to the wing tip and a tighter crop. Also all that negative white space detracts a bit for me. T'will be interesting the find out what others think. Super capture though:)

Nick it's different. I like the blur effect. I am wondering about the comp. What were your thoughts about the presentation? Anyways you always inspire me to push my own limits.

Nicki, It reminds me of a dancer. Very elegant and I love the colors. I thought I would prefer a tighter crop but
the more I look at it the more I'm not sure about that.:)

Thanks so much for your very kind comments everyone. In fact this is number 5 of a series of 10 images representing the Rio Carnival, and next time I post a picture I might also post the statement that I wrote to go with it in order to better illustrate the storyline. This image is meant to represent a sleeve, and at this point in the story our hero is getting dressed to go out to the carnival. I appreciate that it might be difficult to see the point of the composition when viewing the images out of context!!
I quite like the negative space but I am reposting a different crop to see what you think.
Best,
Nicki

Thank you for sharing your vision splendide, Nicki. Your image makes all the more sense to me now. The sleeve concept is simply brilliant. And to me the tighter crop makes the feathers look even better than before:)

Nicki, The tighter crop does work but the original just has your signature written all over it.:)

It is kind of an explosion of colours and feathers out of that corner, in a good way.
It certainly fits the explanation very well.
