I was playing around with one of my orchid photos at lunch today and chose the "extruded" filter in PS (filter/stylize/extrude). I chose "pyramid" instead of "blocks" and set it to 40 pixels and this is what I came up with...
Maybe we need to have an extruded theme, Denise? Or a filter/stylize week? Seems like we don't use those filters very often but there's some cool stuff in there! ;)

Jules, Great idea. Put it on the board. I can't seem to wrap my head around that filter, so some practice would be good. Nice explosion of color. I guess that color is the key to that filter.:)
Certainly is a great explosion of colors, Jules. And I love the texture the extruded filter has given it. haven't tried that one myself yet. Your orchids must be glorious:)

Thanks everyone. I liked the heart shape as well, Nicki! I think the secret of the filter is to find something that radiates from the center - flowers seem to be what works best but I would think other items out there would work as well. It was fun playing around with it today and now it's got me thinking of some other things to try out...
Funny I was playing around with this filter on the w/e and it is lots of fun. Recognize the orig. Very pretty with everything fanning outwards and vibrant colours. I was thinking a theme on filters too. Maybe one that we have never used. I think it would be interesting.
Wow! Those colors are dazzling. The first thing I thought of was: that would make a beautiful quilt!
Jules, I love this filter. I think it creates some really interesting compositions. This has so much dimension to it.
And the colors are psychelic - it looks like a hippy quilt:)
It interesting...if you move your head from left to right and back..all the colors seem to change, well done..I'll look into this filter..TFS
