I used one of the filters in Simplify and blended it with the original which gave me a very saturated, illustrated look.. Then I added some texture and also a brush stroke in the BG. I masked back in the eye.

Really nice re-work of this. The colors and textures look real but just enough of an effect to bring it out of the box a little bit.
Combining an original with a reduced opacity digital edit can have a great result, as you have here. The colors are bright and eye-catching.
Very nice and highly impactful image, Denise! I'm not sure I love the deeper colors at the bottom of the frame - I think I personally would prefer to see the lighter "sky" colors all the way down. Still, outstanding image and the catchlight really grabs your eye and makes you believe this IS what the bird looks like. Nice!
Really nice PP work, denise. The green RHBC looks a bit odd to my Downunder eye as we don't get that color in our landscape. And my only other consideration is the lack of detail in the two white spots left of that beautiful eye. Otherwise, great impact:)
Is there any colour you have missed here Denise:) The texture gives it a completly different feel from sharpening. BG is lovely.
Beautiful work, Denise. Very nice effect you created with beautiful colors and texture. Lovely pose too.
Thanks folks. I appreciate the comments.
Pretty image Denise! You got some colors there that are not usually seen and I like that a lot. Lots of interesting things for the eye in this one.
Love the textures, the patterns, the COMP, the head angle, and especially the bit of seaweed-covered rock in the lrc. I would love to see a steel blue version as I am not a big fan of magenta :)
Kerry and Artie, Thank you both very much for taking the time to comment.:)
Denise, I like everything about this but the lower right hand corner - I'd rather see it oof like the rest of the bg.
But a beautiful image of course:)
Thank you Cheryl, much appreciated.
