The original background for this avocet was grayish mud and grayish mangrove roots...very ugly. Using curves I reduced the background to just a hint of detail. Then I used just 5% invert to bring back some texture. I love this theme of white on white and couldn't help but post one more effort before the week was over!
Comments, critiques and instruction welcome.

Hi Nancy. Nice high key treatment on the Avocet. Very handsome bird and great pose. A little catch light in the eye would be cool, I think. I like the hints of color here and there.

Nancy, You did a great job with the BG. I like that you left a hint of detail. Beautiful pose. I might clone the tiny bit of BG that is just above it's tail. Nicely done and it fits well w/ the theme.:)

A striking pose, Nancy. Lovely capture. I like the idea of a tiny catchlight, and cloning the bit above the tail.:) K

Hi Nancy, Great pose, love how you captured him in mid-stride. Lovely white-on-white look. Just enough detail to separate the bird from the BG. Very nice. :)
