I worked on this image in Lightroom and PSE to clone out distracting branches in the BG and one running across the bird. Although it did not look too bad as a straight photo, I applied the posterization filter and a canvas texture. The photo version is posted in the ETL forum.

I love Poster Edges as a way to really define sharpness and ground an image. You used it very well here, will check the original.
Next time, you should include cross links so everyone can enjoy both versions ;)

Julie, I like the unusual comp. and the pose with the raised foot is nice. I also love the crest showing. I think that the poster edges and the texture are nice. I might clean up a tiny bit around the bird's edges esp. near the top. Very nicely done!

Fantastic, Julie! Perfect menacing angle and those eyes and that raised foot really do give you the feeling that he means business! I'm loving the technique - you really did a great job here.
