entering the stratosphere. Lots of heat and debris flying, hope the heat shields stay on!"
I used my old, old version of Paint Shop Pro's illumination effects, and then switched over for just a bit of "fracking".

This is really cool Gerry. Really creative vision to go along with your PP skills. I like the image a lot.
Brave little blue jay battling the galaxy's elements! Capturing that bird in flight must have been no mean feat. Good ole PSP. That Illumination effect well and truly lifts this OOTB:)
Gerry, I love your sense of humor. The light rays and the illumination effect is very well done. I wish the bird were more left in the frame but it is still a great looking image!:)
Hope he makes it back to earth. :D Well processed with a great title to match. Might darken the eye. just a thought.
Great wing position on the bird, Gerry and I love the spectral side show! I, too, think the eye needs a hard black with a catchlight but everything else is great!
Excellent pose, Gerry, and I love the light ray effect. I'm not sure, but I wonder if moving the bird a tiny bit closer to the LLC might be an improvement. Very creative image. :)
Thanks, everyone!
You guys are right. I should have moved the bird back a bit. The eye was quite dark but the rays seemed to lighten it up.
Thanks again for looking.

Question: is the bright light an introduced element?
Artie,
The bright light is all part of the illumination effects of Paint Shop Pro. It is part of the rays expanding towards the bird.
