I've got an Epson P-5000 and am looking to upgrade. Does anyone have experience with the HyperDrive Album? The specs look very impressive, but information from owners is scarce due to the fact that it was just released.

check out nexto underated but a good performer at a low price
You're unlikely to get any real user reviews of the model for a while- I emailed them last weekend to enquire about whether any European stockists may be getting the Album in soon as was told that it only started to ship last week. They said that it would be a while before the distributors in Europe get any, and there is noone in the UK that has Hyperdrive products specifically.
It has also changed on the Hyperdrive website from showing as "usually dispatched within 24 hours" to "1-2 weeks" so it sounds like they've had a fair bit of interest early on for the product.
Online reviews seem to indicate that it's a good item but for something like this, reliability is key and we won't hear too much about that for a while as it's so new
Doug,
I recently got the Colourspace Album as a replacement to my Espson P5000.
Overall, I'm very pleased with the unit. The user replaceable HD is a very nice feature. I put in a WD 500gb drive for about $80. This whole process is very easy to do. The screen is just as nice as the Epson although build quality feels a little more plasticy.
Transfer speed is just under 30mb/sec with udma6 cards (i'm using a gmonstor 16gb 533x). Battery life is rated for 230gb download on a single charge. The battery is not user replaceable which is disappointing as I often do extended trips where I have no access to AC power. There appears that there is no way to remove the battery even with the back off the unit.
It has a built in recovery feature which I got to test out this weekend after accidentally reformatting a CF card before downloading it. This feature worked great and recovered all my images along with those from several reformats ago! I can see how this will be nice to have in the field when I'm not near a computer and want to make sure I recover images asap.
Overall it's a great replacement to the Epson and the price is definitely more reasonable. The other unit you may wish to look at is the MemoryKick SI unit which looks pretty nice as well.
