I’m using a Sigma 120-400 4.5-5.6 DG with a D300 it was working great for 3 months then suddenly I started having problems, all of a sudden the lens stops focusing exposure does not work and the camera freezes up and showing empty battery sign even with a fully charged battery, I will also some times see 0 on the Aperture value in the control panel LCD turning the camera on and of will bring all functions back for a few shots before it happens again this is not limited to only one battery and it happens only with the sigma lens all my other Nikon lenses work just fine. The lens was sent back to sigma and they said they tested the lens for two weeks with a D300 body and could not find anything wrong every thing was working just fine…
I wonder if anyone has come across this problem as well
Any advice would be welcome!

Raffi, I would make sure that you have the latest D300 firmware installed. I had an issue like this that was resolved with a firmware update.
