I created this mini-world from a pano that I had done one morning last year. The moon was in the original shot, but it got distorted in the process of creating the mini-world so I copied and pasted it back in from the original. I also boosted the saturation a bit to brighten the colors.
Really nice Christopher. I like the negative space and the lighting. The trees have a whispy look. I might crop some off the bottom.:)
Extremely elegant and simple. I'd crop at least three inches off the bottom and one off the top.
you picked the perfect pano to work this one, christopher!! i really like the simplicity and the colors. i dont know what i would do with the crop. i like it as is, but might trim the bottom and right? :o
Thanks for commenting Denise, Fabs, and Harold. Much appreciated. I considered your various crop suggestions and finally decided to go with Harold's suggestion of trimming the bottom and right. Please let me know what you think.
Chris, Id' give it a more conventional ratio, I still think it has too much at bottom. Personal preference of course :)
Nice image and application Christopher.
I like it as is, as I feel it fits the theme in the present presentation. But, as others have proposed cropping it, I have attached one possible crop that I would consider if it were mine. Just one of many options. I worked around this, as I wanted to get the moon down to the 1/3 line and maintain as much of the yellow around the "island" as possible. From that came this crop option. But ... your image ... your vision.

Thanks for the suggestions, Fabs and Mark. Personally I like having all the negative space around the island and keeping it more or less centered, so that's my own personal preference. :)

Mark's crop is too tight and disregards the glow; being a slave to the rule of 1/3rds or any other rule is not always a good choice.... While I respect your choice as the artist Christopher, I feel that the crop presented here is pretty obvious :) and creates a stronger image :) :)
BTW, I love the mood and the concept.
Okay, I was with Christopher on the crop right up until the end when I saw Artie's version. That's the winner in my mind. Chris, outstanding image. Love the soft glow around the trees and the colors flowing into one another. Excellent work!
Thanks Artie and Jules. I think I still prefer my own vision for this image, but, Artie, I have to say your crop doesn't look bad either. :) I greatly appreciate all the various suggestions I've gotten on this image.
