Hi Mark I have no doubt the combo is good, just the AF will be slow. In a pinch I would not hesitate using but would not use on a regular basis !!!
Very impressive optics. A zoom lens + 2X TC and flight samples are still sharp, although gulls are easy targets for AF :D
